{"id":241,"date":"2025-11-11T13:52:48","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T13:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thephysicianassociate.com\/?p=241"},"modified":"2025-11-11T13:52:50","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T13:52:50","slug":"physician-associates-primary-care-safety-evidence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thephysicianassociate.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/11\/physician-associates-primary-care-safety-evidence\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW: Systematic review demonstrates that PAs are safe and effective in the Primary Care setting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bjgpopen.org\/content\/early\/2025\/11\/02\/BJGPO.2025.0026\">https:\/\/bjgpopen.org\/content\/early\/2025\/11\/02\/BJGPO.2025.0026<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">A newly published systematic review published in BJGP Open examines the role of Physician Associates in UK primary care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The findings highlight that Physician Associates operate safely in the primary care setting &#8211; an encouraging and necessary affirmation for our profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Key findings from the review of 16 studies:<br>\u2022\u2060 \u2060When PA consultations were objectively reviewed, <strong>no safety concerns were identified<\/strong>.<br>\u2022\u2060 \u2060<strong>Patient experiences were largely positive<\/strong>, with high rates of satisfaction<br>\u2022\u2060 \u2060PAs were found to <strong>enhance continuity of care<\/strong>, which patients valued highly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">It will be interesting to see if Professor Leng incorporates this new evidence into Leng 2.0. This evidence-based research is vital as we continue to advocate for our profession and challenge unfounded restrictions.
